This image carries significant risk; production deployment is highly discouraged without strict compensating controls. An attacker who can reach the metrics endpoint over HTTP/2 could cause denial of service by exhausting memory and CPU, and various other stdlib parsing issues could also lead to resource exhaustion under specific inputs. Serving the metrics endpoint over plaintext HTTP/1.1 instead of TLS avoids HTTP/2, fully eliminating CVE-2023-45288 and related HTTP/2 DoS issues. Note: these HTTP/2 issues are only applicable if the listener is TLS-enabled and negotiates h2; the default configuration does not expose them.
