This image carries significant risk; production deployment is highly discouraged without strict compensating controls. If the affected code paths are reached, an attacker could crash the broker or its client-facing libraries through crafted OpenSSL CMS or DTLS input, and locally through libssh SFTP parsing (CVE-2026-63072, CVE-2026-3731), degrading or halting message delivery. Because these libraries are largely not on Kafka's normal network path, the practical exposure depends heavily on the deployment: patched vendor packages that resolve CVE-2026-63072 and CVE-2026-3731 would fully eliminate those specific findings.
